April 2, 2024Spring has sprung and the Easter season is upon us! Weirdly, Easter is my husband Kyle’s favorite holiday. Although it was never as big of a deal for me, I am happy to jump on the bandwagon and go hard for another holiday, especially if it means I get to break out the colorful décor and fine China.
I am not hosting an Easter dinner or any sort of Easter celebration this year, however, I still wanted to get into the spirit, and I wanted our home to reflect that. I dug through my basement storage and found this gorgeous vase, as well as these serving bowls and butter dish that are part of my Franciscan Desert Rose dinnerware collection that my grandma has collected for me (she is very knowledgeable about antiques!) If I was actually entertaining, I would have pulled out the full set, but this would suffice to spruce up our dining area.
Next, I journeyed to Trader Joe’s to survey their offering of spring cut flowers. Tulips are in full season, so I grabbed these gorgeous magenta ones, along with some bright orange ranunculus to boot. I was so excited to create a colorful arrangement and was so pleased with the results.
I found these adorable decorative pastel Easter eggs at Aldi ($4.99 per pack)! They also had a variety of fun Easter candy and chocolate bunnies, which I grabbed a few of, who knew! I broke out my mom’s vintage Longaberger basket and filled it with the eggs, along with one of the dinner bowls and voilà, we had a colorful little tablescape.
As a married twenty-something, I love collecting holiday decorations that are not too childish and still mesh with the aesthetic of my home, and these will certainly continue to go the distance. I also love mixing old and new items to create a unique look!
I hope this serves as some inspiration for bringing a little spring sunshine into even the smallest of spaces. (And hopefully my husband doesn’t find the candy I have hidden for him until the big day). Happy Easter!
