August 15, 2024A thirst-quenching Cucumber Mint Margarita combines crisp cucumber, fresh mint, zesty lime juice, premium tequila and orange liqueur for a delightful summer drink! Perfect for backyard parties or a relaxing evening, this colorful cocktail is the best way to cool down on a hot summer’s day.
I have been wanting to try out this recipe for a while and figured my husband’s birthday would be the perfect opportunity to! As you can see in the photos, I used the final drops of my 818 Tequila bottle to create this cocktail, and I’d do it again in a heartbeat! I must say, I really felt like Kendall cutting up the cucumber to go with my 818!
This refreshing drink is ideal for backyard gatherings, poolside lounging or simply unwinding after a long day. This easy-to-make recipe will become your go-to favorite for any occasion. Impress your guests with this unique twist on a classic margarita and enjoy the taste of summer in every sip!
Everything You’ll Need to Make a Cucumber Margarita
Here’s everything I used to make this refreshing margarita recipe!
- Liquor: Obviously a margarita requires some delicious tequila! I personally prefer blanco tequila and made this margarita with my favorite 818 Tequila – but you can use any kind of tequila! You’ll also need some kind of orange liqueur. I always opt for Grand Marnier for its premium flavor and extra high alcohol content, but Cointreau or triple sec would also work just fine.
- Cucumber Mint Juice: For your cucumber mint mixture, you’ll need to blend a medium cucumber with the skin removed, along with the juice of one lime, some simple syrup or agave nectar, and a handful of fresh mint leaves.
- Garnish: If you like a salty margarita then don’t forget to add some margarita salt to the rim of your glass. To be extra fancy, I like to mix my margarita salt with some lime zest for extra visual appeal and flavor. You can also garnish with some cucumber slices, a fresh sprig of mint and a cocktail pick adorned with a cucumber skin if you want – but these are all optional steps!
How to Make a Cucumber Margarita
- Prep Your Glass: Run your halved lime around the rim of the margarita glass, then rub the edge of the glass in the margarita salt and lime zest mixture.
- Blend: Add your cucumber, lime juice, mint leaves and simple syrup (or agave) to a blender and blend until fully combined.
- Shake: Add ice, tequila, orange liqueur and cucumber mint juice to a cocktail shaker. Cover and shake for 30 seconds.
- Strain & Garnish: Strain the mixture into your glasses filled with ice then garnish with cucumber slices, mint sprig and cocktail pick.
- Serve: Serve immediately and enjoy!
Serving A Crowd
You can most definitely prep this margarita ahead of time to make a larger batch! Simply double or triple the ingredients for your cucumber mint juice, blend and store ahead of time in the refrigerator for up to a few hours. Then simply shake with tequila and orange liqueur when you’re ready to serve and strain the drink into pre-garnished glasses.
Cocktail Tools
To make this cocktail, you’ll need some bar tools like these, as well as a cocktail shaker and citrus juicer! I also used my tried-and-true Vitamix blender, as well as this handy cutting board, which is a staple in my kitchen. I served my margaritas in these adorable cocktail glasses from Crate and Barrel!
