I have been on quite the granola kick this year and after months of buying different overpriced varieties at the grocery store, I finally thought to myself “what if I just made my own?” So, I have kicked off my granola-making journey with this pumpkin granola! (Just call me trad wife!) Although it is currently still 80 degrees in Columbus, I am hoping these seasonal flavors will usher in some more autumnal vibes.
Everything You Need to Make Fall Pumpkin Spice Granola
This homemade granola is so easy to make with simple and wholesome ingredients. Plus, making it yourself is far cheaper than buying it at the store! Here’s everything you’ll need, and of course, you can always customize it!
- Old-Fashioned Oats: Old-fashioned oats are a necessary ingredient to make this granola. I recently purchased a giant 2-lb container from Aldi for $3.99 as I plan to make quite a lot of homemade granola this fall and winter!
- Mixed Nuts: For this recipe, I used a mix of raw unsalted almonds, pecans and pistachio kernels from Aldi, to add some extra crunch to the granola. You can use any kind of nuts you like or skip this ingredient altogether if you want!
- Honey, Maple Syrup & Brown Sugar: To sweeten this granola, I went with a combination of honey, maple syrup and brown sugar! I know this may seem like overkill, but I wanted all the sweet fall flavors to come through in this recipe. If you’d like to make this a lower-sugar granola, feel free to cut back on these ingredients or simply choose one.
- Pumpkin Puree: This recipe wouldn’t be complete without adding some pumpkin puree. Just make sure it’s unsweetened and not pumpkin pie filling!
- Cinnamon & Pumpkin Pie Spice: These toasty fall spices will add the perfect flavor to granola, and will also make your kitchen smell heavenly in the process.
- Vanilla Extract: Of course, this recipe needs some nice vanilla notes in addition to the fall spices.
- Olive Oil: Olive oil will help to liquify your pumpkin, sugar and spice mixture and will also help the mixture to stick to the oats and nuts and get nice and crispy in the oven.
- Sea Salt: A little bit of freshly grated sea salt rounds out this granola with a little sweet and savory bite!
How to Make Fall Pumpkin Spice Granola
- Whisk Wet Ingredients, Sugar & Spices: In a large bowl, whisk together olive oil, honey, maple syrup, brown sugar, vanilla extract, pumpkin puree, cinnamon, pumpkin pie spice and sea salt.
- Add Oats & Nuts: Add oats and nuts to the bowl and gently stir to combine.
- Bake: Spread mixture on a well-oiled baking sheet and bake for 20 minutes or until crispy. If you prefer your granola to be softer, you can remove it from the oven after 10 or 15 minutes once it has reached your desired consistency.
- Cool & Store: Make sure to let the granola cool for at least 15 minutes to let it solidify. After it cools, you can enjoy it immediately or store it in a well-sealed container for up to five days!
Share as a Gift
This Pumpkin Fall Spice Granola also makes for the perfect homemade gift. With its warm, seasonal flavors and irresistible crunch, you can beautifully package it in a jar for friends and family to enjoy a taste of autumn. I ended up packing up a jar as a birthday present for my aunt, and she was so excited to try it she broke it out at the restaurant table!
